G.R.A.C.E

Grace, often acronymed God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense, is the unmerited mercy (favor) that God gave to humanity by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on a cross, thus delivering eternal salvation. It is God’s gift of salvation granted to sinners for their salvation. It is the goodwill of the gracious God whom we offended, and the generosity of the greathearted God whom we provoked and angered by our sins, but who in His mercy, overlooked our faults and saved us from all consequences of sin. We were all born into sin as a result of the disobedience of Adam and Eve. We lost all our privileges as God’s creatures and were estranged from Him. We became evil and wicked by nature, and deserved His wrath and judgement. But instead, He provided a way of reconciling us back to Himself, even when we were lost and couldn’t pay for our ransom. His grace drew us nearer to Him.

The apostle Paul affirms this in Ephesians 2:4-5, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;).” Christ’s death on the cross was the means by which grace was made available to humanity. Someone said, “At the cross, God gave the most precious thing He possessed for the most undeserving people He knew.” Although grace is freely given to humanity, it cost God the death of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, He declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30). He paid the full price for our redemption with His blood and gave it to us free of charge. He didn’t require any cost from us because He knew we couldn’t afford it. God’s grace is so full that it covers all areas of our life. Sin infected us, robbed and stripped us of God’s original design for us and His glory, brought suffering and untold hardship to us, and separated us from and made us enemies of our Creator. But Jesus changed all that! He reconciled us back to God and restored our lost privileges by enduring the excruciating pain on the cross, thereby paying the full debt of our sin and delivering salvation to us. Instead of making us pay for our crimes, He suffered in our stead. He was battered and crucified for our salvation (Isaiah 53:3-5).

Oh, if you can comprehend what Jesus did for you on the cross, your heart will melt! You will fall on your knees as you’re reading this publication right now, confess and repent of your sins, and make Jesus your Savior and Lord. If you’re born-again, you will greatly appreciate the work of grace by letting the shed blood of Jesus on the cross purge you of inbred sin, purify your heart and sanctified you wholly. And if you’re sanctified, you will approach the cross still to receive other blessings therein such as baptism with the Holy Spirit and spiritual growth. God’s grace is in different measures and degrees. There’s saving grace, more grace, all grace, great grace, manifold grace, abundant grace, sufficient grace, sustaining grace, exceeding grace and exceeding abundant grace. What this means is that divine grace is full to meet your every need, and it’s free. So friend, don’t spurn at God’s grace, but by prayer and obedience to His Word, attract the needed grace to your life. God bless you.
