You've Got to Get Up and Do Something
If we say, 'Let us enter the city,' the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. So now come, let us go over to the camp of the Syrians. If they spare our lives we shall live, and if they kill us we shall but die." 2 Kings 7:4 ESV
Taking a risk is one of the biggest factors that causes most people to be poor. When we look at the number of graduate unemployed people in our various cities, counties and countries, it is very said. We see people with Bsc. in Business who are yet still unemployed, while the country needs more entrepreneurs; people who are willing to turn their little resources into something bigger than what the world can imagine.
The story from the anchor scripture is about four men who have been rejected by their own people because of their deficiencies. The Bible says that when these men who weren't noticed by their own people (surprisingly, their names weren't mentioned in the bible) were the same people that God used to save their people from famine. Unless you forget about your problems, your current situation and do something for yourself, nothing good can come out of you.
Those big names we hear today, that is, the Bill Gates, the Bush and the rest wouldn't have been recognized until they did something for themselves. It doesn’t take mighty men to save or build a nation. It was a little ordinary David that saved the lives of the Israelis from the hands of the Palestinians.
Get up and do something for yourself, you family, your church and your nation. You've got to get up and do something.
Prayer
Lord, help me to get up and do something. Amen!
