Don’t Just Believe In Him, Know Him Also
“… our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, … we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up." Daniel 3:17-18 It is one thing to believe in something and another to know it. There many of us believers who out of the message heard, the miracles seen, believe in God but don't know Him. Understand that believing in Him is different from knowing Him. He says that on the judgement day, He will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. “ Luke13:27. Out of the faith we have in Him, we may be able to heal the sick, cast out demons and perform all forms of signs and wonders but that comes to nothing if we don't know Him. These three Jewish men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego didn't only believe on God because they had been witnesses of so many signs, wonders and miracles. Although their lives were even a living miracle and a testimony to others, they knew God also. They knew God as a jealous God and a consuming fire and so they didn'tn't bow to any image or whatsoever god. They knew that the Consuming Fire will be with them in the burning furnace and even if He wouldn't save them from the furnace, they still knew Him as a God whose thoughts and ways are not like ours. I see “Believe” as a by-product of what we have seen, heard or read about but, Knowing, comes from knowledge which is gained through a continuous studying, practicing, testing and evaluating. We believe stories and things everyday, but do we know if our beliefs are true? It is not enough to Believe in God, Know Him also. Peace be upon us all.
