Live as you are called

"Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him."

1 Corinthians 7:17

Take a moment to reflect on your life. Reflect on the decisions you make each day regarding the many situations you find yourself in. Can you say with confidence that you are leading the life The Lord has assigned you to? Are you fulfilling the purpose for which you were called?

Maybe I should have begun this post with the following set of questions: what life has The Lord assigned to you? To what has He called you? Most importantly, are you leading that life?

Often we hear the phrase "called by God" and we categorize it with only a select few people. For instance, one might say a preacher or a pastor has been called by God. Such a person is therefore expected to lead life in a particular way. Frankly, a way that is void of anything that would render him impure before The One who called him. But what about us who haven't received a call to a specific task in His kingdom? What have we been called to? Are we supposed to maintain the same standards as the one who has been called for a particular task?

The answer is rather quite obvious: Yes! Regardless of how we classify ourselves in the Kingdom of The Most High, we have all been called, and have been set apart. 1 Peter 2:9 captures it pretty well: "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

Our Caller therefore expects us, as callees, to live exactly how we were called: a pleasing and acceptable life unto Him. This is only how we are to live, and no other way. Our decisions each day should completely match the life The Lord assigned to us. If you find yourself going off course today, revise your way of living and lead a life that is representative of The Caller!

Prayer

Lord Jesus, forgive me if I have deviated in any way, from leading the way you called me to. Teach me exactly what it means to live the life You assigned me this day. In Jesus' Name! Amen!
