Jesus the Example [Self Control Day 4]

Father forgive them for they no not what they do. Luke 23:34 Jesus is the ultimate example of self control. A man without fault or blemish taking the fall for mankind. And even as we beat and spat on him, He exercised self control at the greatest level by asking God to forgive us. Imagine if that were you and I? We would be cursing at the people or better yet we would be cursing God for allowing such a thing to happen to us. Yet Jesus endured to his death, and even on the cross he still exercised this great trait. Many temptations befell Jesus while He was on this earth, yet He overcame them all. Christians of today often make so many excuses as to why they are unable to overcome temptations. We act as if Jesus didn't go through the same (or even worse) things we go through on a daily basis. At one point after Jesus had fasted for forty days the devil came to tempt him. Satan asked him to turn stones into bread. At that point Jesus could have easily fallen into his trap as there is nothing impossible for Him to do; but in exercising self control he was able to take a step back to realize the intentions satan had for him and overcame it. If it were you and I we would have gotten caught up in the hype to prove a point and would have fallen prey to the evil one. Glory be to God for the holy spirit who is now teaching us daily to be disciplined in our walk with God. May we always strive to be like Jesus in times of temptation and show the devil that we serve a living God who quiets our sinful passions and restore us to his glory! Lord help me to overcome temptation as Jesus did. In Jesus's Name. Amen!
